Austin's Experience

  • Austin's extensive experience in cannabis tissue culture, breeding, and related biotechnologies reflects his passion for the field. He spent the last four years under the guidance of Dr. Max Jones at the University of Guelph, during which time he commercialized the first high-THC, genetically "seedless" triploid strain on the market. As part of the Jones Lab, Austin has contributed to several research papers focused on cannabis tissue culture and refining in-vitro growth procedures.

While completing his master's work, Austin examined the potential of tissue culture-assisted speed breeding in cannabis. He also studied and developed protocols for more environmentally friendly methods of feminized seed production. As a driven entrepreneur, Austin also has successfully launched a start-up within the cannabis space.

Beyond his research and entrepreneurial pursuits, Austin has a passion for connecting with individuals within the cannabis community. He founded the University of Guelph Cannabis Growers Club in 2018 with the goal of sharing his love for cannabis cultivation with fellow students who might not have a green thumb. Austin has also organized and conducted industry workshops on cannabis tissue culture, allowing him to follow his passion of sharing his knowledge and expertise.
